Robert
Rob is a big picture thinker working at the intersection between science and spirituality, inner and outer transformation. As an educator he has spoken to more than 40,000 young people about the climate crisis. As a project manager he has managed a thinktank for senior sustainability professionals and a nationwide environmental education programme. And as a philosopher he is founding editor of Conscious Evolution, an online publication and podcast aiming to disseminate the evolutionary worldview, and kindle an evolutionary transition.
Dan
Dan is a tech adoring hippy, longboarder, bartender, events planner, and former sustainability chapter chair for a corporate giant. Frequently found exploring lands outside his local UK shire, Daniel has a past as wavey as a wizards beard with years of experience in botany, travel, tourism, artificial intelligence and sales. With passion for all things green with his experience in tech, it’s almost impossible to stop Dan from talking about new ecological tech!
Oly
Oly trained as a competitive swimmer from an early age and his holidays were always on the coast, or camping in Cornwall. He runs a small plastering business to give him the flexibility to swim and surf. To raise awareness of the enormity of the effects of plastic pollution, in 2020 he swam the Jurassic Coast, covering 100 miles in 10 days, and in 2021 he set a new record swimming around the Isle of Wight in 15 hours and 9 minutes. In May 2022 he swam around the entire island of Grand Cayman in just under 37 hrs.
Jasper
Jasper has been involved within sustainability for over 10 years, working in countries such as Ethiopia, Japan, Nepal and the United States. His speciality is in marketing, but he also has varied experience in business development, design and partnerships. He believes in the importance of protecting the oceans, as it is the most important ecosystem in the world, but is often neglected.
Kate Bennett PhD
Kate is an Australian ocean lover who can’t imagine life without a beach. With a Masters in sustainable development, an MBA and over a decade working in corporate sustainability for publicly listed entities across a range of industries, Kate is now researching alternate governance and finance approaches for sustainable development. Having been involved with multiple volunteer initiatives from beach cleanups to reef monitoring, Kate is happiest when engaging with community to enjoy, protect and restore our marine ecosystems.
Catherine Childs
Catherine is passionate about the need to protect and preserve nature in our fight against climate change. She holds a master's degree in Environmental Science, is a registered Climate Change Professional (CC-P) and holds an IUCN professional certificate in Nature-based Solutions. Cathy created a carbon offset initiative in the Cayman Islands to fund the protection of mangrove forests and solar energy for schools. She can often be found in the presence of young people whom she does her best to promote, saying "they're our last best hope for a brighter future - and we owe it to them to fight for it."
Ian Scarffe
A leading expert in Blockchain, Web3, and Fintech industries, Ian is at the very heart of revolutionizing the financing industry across the globe and currently consults and advises for a range of multi-million-dollar companies. Ian has outstanding entrepreneurial skills and commercial acumen with innovation and motivation. Ian’s overall mission is to foster a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, contributing to the improvement of their communities across the world.
Maria Grazia PhD
Maria holds a PhD in Computing from Imperial College London is part of an interdisciplinary group addressing the challenges of accelerating Green Finance worldwide. She is the co-founder and CTO of Fidata, a start-up accelerating Net Zero by accurately measuring capital flows towards sustainable projects with reliable and scientifically vetted impact data. She is the main author of “The Executive Guide to Blockchain” (Palgrave MacMillan), a book that demystifies blockchain and has published over thirty papers in peer-reviewed international academic journals and conferences.
Jennifer Bender
Jennifer Bender PhD is an environmental scientist bridging gaps between scientists, policy makers and the public on marine and coastal environments. She is executive director of the Marine Studies Consortium, consults to the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and sits on the boards of Sea-Ahead and Pleiades. Jennifer leads programs in Aquaculture and Environmental Innovation at UMass Boston School for the Environment, and holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Science.
Michael
After 35 years of U.S. Naval service, Michael Wegman is passionate about the cleanliness of our earth’s oceans. As an atmosphere control technician in navy nuclear submarines, he learned firsthand of the potentially devastating effects of carbon dioxide, and as a surface officer he witnessed first hand the extensive oil and garbage polluting our oceans and the devastating damage being done to ecosystems and their indigenous creatures. Now as a retired teacher, he writes to educate about our oceans and climate.
Gaby
Having grown up in Cornwall, the ocean has always been Gaby’s sanctuary. Gaby loves the tapestry of adventure that awaits, from beach runs to sea swims; surfing to paddle boarding; snorkelling to rock pooling. It creates a joy for the senses, while also being our greatest ally in the climate change crisis. In 2020, she diverted from the corporate ladder and co-founded Somercecil, a retreat business in the UK, dedicated to bringing together like-minded people and helping them return to a naturally restful and happy state through movement in nature.
Chris
Chris is a climate and tech enthusiast with a professional top tier legal and finance background advising governments, funds, corporates and lenders in a range of sectors and geographies. A passionate climate advocate, Chris is a party level negotiator to the COP and UNFCCC processes including on the Paris Agreement and Katowice Rule Book and has been involved in climate advocacy and activism for over 30 years.
Rupert Fee
Rupert has a background in financial services and has worked on a range of projects in sustainability from reducing ocean-bound plastics via corporate payments to leveraging blockchain technology to overcome barriers in LMICs to start-up climate action projects. He also advises the United Nations on digital and financial inclusion solutions that create the infrastructure for long-term sustainable development in rural communities.
Dominic Wodehouse, PhD.
Dominic Wodehouse is Executive Director of Mangrove Action Project. After 10 years in advertising, Dominic changed direction to follow a passion for trees and forest, gaining an MSc at Imperial College London/SOAS and a PhD at Bangor University. From 2006 he worked as a mangrove technical officer with Wetlands International, and since 2011 he has been teaching ‘community-based ecological mangrove rehabilitation’ at MAP’s workshops worldwide. Dominic is a member of the IUCN Mangrove Specialist Group.
Finance and Treasury
Gareth is an excitable plant powered, crypto and climate enthusiast with over 20 years experience in the financial services sector with top tier firms. Gareth has a family first perspective on life with a critical focus on leaving the planet on a sustainable trajectory for his children and the generations beyond. Gareth was early to appreciate the role that crypto can play in this journey and has energy and passion in abundance to do the right thing.
Creative, Branding and Listings
Craig is a passionate and driven individual who takes pride in his work. Craig has over 20 years of experience within the field of architecture, and is now a self-confessed crypto and digital art enthusiast. Already hot on sustainability and then combining this with his love of the natural world, Craig was always going to find himself utilising his creative and design skills to help our planet.
Business Management and Technology
Jarrett has over 5 years of experience in both business management and technology. This matched with 3 years in crypto/blockchain and a lifetime of appreciation for the environment has Beach Token feeling like home. When not at the Beach, Jarrett can be found hiking, snowboarding, or searching for the next best breakfast place. Having seen what can be achieved with a great community and relentless team, he is excited to utilise his skills in an effort to do good with every transaction. See you there!
Comms and Youth
Bella is a communications intern with a degree in zoology and a background in science communication. She hosts her own environmental podcast/radio show called Protecting Paradise and is operations manager for Plastic Free Cayman, an NGO based in the Cayman Islands. She has volunteered for conservation projects in The Bamamas and Zimbabwe, conducted outreach for the University of Exeter’s Women in Conservation group, and most recently attended COP27 as a youth delegate.
Corporate, Fund and Strategic Relationships
Kenny is a serial business entrepreneur with 25 years investing experience across the UK and North American markets. Naturally drawn to the crypto sector, Kenny quickly recognised that the blockchain has the potential to offer multiple real world solutions for the very real climate change issues that the world is now facing.
Business Development, Partnerships and Tech
Ozz was a sales floor manager, artist, and volunteer for multiple foundations varying from animal welfare to environmental conservancy, before getting involved with crypto. Having worked with a couple successful crypto projects in the past, he knows how to be a forward thinker. Always consumed by his fascination with technology and climate action, he's confident cryptocurrencies can help bring positive change to the world.
